Sunday tour at Bairro Do Recife
The Marco Zero (Ground Zero) is the city's original measuring position. Santo Antonio & Sao Jose areas
This circuit starts in Republica Square, visiting the 19th century Santa Isabel Theatre the Campo Das Princesas Palace from 1841 and the Palace of Justice, a chief architectural ensemble. Nearby, the Capela Dourada (Golden Chapel), built from 1696 to 1724, comprising the Franciscan Museum of Sacred Arts, regarded as one of Pernambuco's best examples of baroque. As we go across the Sao Jose area, we can visit the 19th century Sao Jose Market. Following our journey and going through the houses, we reach the Patio de Sao Pedro (Sao Pedro Yard) registered in 1838. 18th century houses and the magnificent 18th century Sao Pedro Dos Clerigos Cathedral, in baroque style, envelop the square. Near the Patio De Sao Pedro, the Nossa Senhora Do Carmo Cathedral, erected from 1687 to 1767. The Pernambuco culture, namely its handicraft work, can be appreciated at Casa Da Cultura, placed at the same building used until 1973 as the Jail House. It currently works as a commercial, cultural site.
Cultural Plunge
Placed at a 15,000 square metres area, the Francisco Brennand Museum & Workshop comprises a prolific setting that encompasses both Nature and the artist's pieces; also in the same area, the Ricardo Brennand Institute, with its peculiar style resembling an old castle, houses a diversified gathering of pieces as old as the 18th century of the Brazil as colony. To relax and have a drink, one should visit the Caxanga Golf & Country Club. Going through the area of Graças, one can find the State Museum, whose assortment included pieces from 16th through 19th centuries. The Spirit

Sao Francisco & Misericordia hillsides (they are a relic of important historical events and gather significant baroque buildings that are promptly remembered by all visitors). The religious circuit should compulsorily include the churches of Nossa Senhora Da Conceicao and Nossa Senhora Do Amaro, plus the Sao Bento Monastery, regarded as a foremost example of the sacred art during the Brazil colonial era.
City area
The Dois Irmaos Park runs a Zoological-botanic garden and Environmental Education Centre, besides being a relic of the Atlantic Native Forest. Going through the 17 De Agosto Avenue, one can find the Gilberto Freyre Foundation placed at the 19th century Vivenda Santo Antonio, in Apipucos area, where Gilberto Freyre, Brazil's famous sociologist, anthropologist and writer lived.
