MARACAÍPE
The beach borrowed its name from a Tupi word meaning the river that sings. The reason lies in the sound the river waters create while striking the mango grove thickets, a sound commonly known as gaiteiro (fife player). Later on, the river was deviated to allow access to the beach that preserved the native word.

Among them, one can find steamboats, galleons, corvettes and bulkers depicting the Colonial and Empire ages of Brazilian and World war History. The view of Santo Aleixo's Island is part of the scenery. The warm and clear waters are great for bathing and the coral reefs create many natural pools.
